Hyderabad: In view of relaxation on FRBM (Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management) by the Centre, the TPCC, has, on Thursday demanded that the State government devote this opportunity towards implementing its promise of ‘one time settlement’ of loan waiver to farmers.

Speaking to media persons in Gandhi Bhavan, the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the lives of farmers have turned miserable due to the prevailing drought conditions. He felt that the raise in the limit under FRBM by the Planning Commission comes as succour to the State, which can now receive an additional loan of Rs 3,000 crore.

Hence, the government should consider this as an opportunity to help farmers who are committing suicides. “The government can fully implement its promise and farmers would be relieved of their financial burden,” he said.Further, the TPCC president demanded the government to ensure that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) is implemented in letter and spirit.

“The government should immediately offer work to labourers, which will help averting further migrations within the State,” he added. Former Minister and Deputy Floor Leader in Legislative Assembly, T Jeevan Reddy, AICC spokesperson, Madhu Yashki and senior leader, D Sridhar Babu were present.
