Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party leader G Kishan Reddy on Sunday attacked the State government, accusing it for failing to deal with the drought situation across the State.
Speaking to media persons after visiting the drought affected areas of Mahabubnagar district on Sunday, Kishan Reddy said drought has been playing havoc across the State.
Even marriages are being postponed due to the drought situation, he observed. Thousands of farmers and agricultural labourers are being forced to migrate to cities in search of livelihood. He alleged that State Government has failed to provide drinking water for villagers and cattle in
affected villages.
Kishan Reddy claimed that the Central Government has so far released Rs 800 crore towards drought relief. But the TRS Government was yet to spend the amount, he said.
He informed that the Telangana unit of BJP has prepared a report on drought situation and is planning to submit the same to Chief Minister KCR.
However, he alleged that the Chief Minister is not giving appointment to the BJP leaders. “KCR has sufficient time to receive defectors of opposition parties, but he has no time to discuss the issues of farmers,” Kishan Reddy fumed.
