Harish invites Karnataka govt officials to resolve RDS issue
In an attempt to resolve long pending Krishna water dispute with Karnataka, the State government on Wednesday invited the officials from Karnataka for a dialogue on the “controversial” Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS).

In a letter to Karnataka Irrigation Minister M B Patil, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday brought to the notice of his counterpart in Karnataka that the water had not been released from the inter- state project RDS to the farmers in Mahbubnagar district.
The Tribunal awarded 15.6 tmcft of water and water should be released for irrigation of 87,000 acres in the district. In reality, only 5 to 6 tmcft of water was only released.
Harish Rao also said the then government in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had deposited Rs 58 crore for modernisation of the project which included the increase of the barrage height.
Opposition from people in Kurnool district to the release of water from the project was also a cause of concern. He wanted to address all these issue through “one to one talks.”
