Hyderabad: The Principal Secretary of Industries, Commerce and Energy, Arvind Kumar has assured the solar power developers that the State government would extend all possible help as per the solar power policy to expedite their projects.

He said that the difficulties being faced by the developers at the implementation level would be taken up. He, however, ruled out any intervention by the government in the purchase of land by the developers for the solar power projects.

The Principal Secretary, who chaired a meeting with solar power developers at TSSPDCL on Friday, said that under the TS-IPASS, the solar power developers can apply for all their clearances. “Solar power developers need not take any clearance from the Pollution Control Board (PCB) or Fire Services department.

The technical approval issued by town and country planning department/urban development bodies would be released by the TS IPASS committee after collecting the fee which is to be paid to the gram Panchayat. Subsequently, the fee would be transferred to the concerned gram panchayat, wherein the developers don’t need any NOC from the gram panchayat.

The TS-IPASS Act is formulated as a very user-friendly policy and as such any implementation hiccups would be addressed to make it more fair and transparent to the developers”, he said.

The meeting was attended by 24 solar power developers, wherein several developers sought extension of time for the execution of the projects as the process of land acquisition was getting delayed.

They said that extension may be given after seeing the progress of the project. Some developers sought enhancement of five acre ceiling, while others sought certain standard operating procedures to be formulated to liberalise the procedure for approvals.

TSSPDCL CMD Raghuma Reddy, VC and MD TNREDCL Srinivas Rao, Director (Operations) Srinivas Reddy, Joint Director Industries Suresh and other officials were present.
