New Delhi: About 65 Telugu pilgrims out of the 400 Indians stuck in Nepal on their way to Manas Sarovar are safely back at Nepal Gunj and are heading back to the Telugu States en route to Delhi.

The pilgrims who chose the Kathmandu route to the destination started off from Delhi on Budhh Pournima day and proceeded to Nepal by road. They were stuck soon after, due to thunderstorms at an unknown destination.

When they sought the help of the local mule transporter for getting back to safety of Nepal Gunj, the operator reportedly collected money from some of them promising a safe return but ditched them in no time.

As the worried pilgrims sent an SOS to the Telangana government, the latter directed its Special Representative, Ramachandru Tejawat, to look after their safety. The official spoke to the Nepalese authorities and ensured that all of them were safely back in Nepal Gunj.
