Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari asserted on Monday that the State government would move the court to get its rightful share of 1,250 tmcft of water from the Krishna and the Godavari rivers. The Deputy Chief Minister, who is on a tour of Adilabad district, said his government would go in for a legal battle for rivers’ waters.

Seeking to know the stand of the Congress and Telugu Desam parties on the issue, Kadiyam took a dig at AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying to stall the works of the projects which were not new. Though Andhra Pradesh was persistently coming in the way, the project works would go on to reach the target of irrigating one crore acres, he remarked.

The Telangana State was making use of less than 1,000 tmcft of waters out of 1,250 tmc allocated to it, he maintained. “Despite the 'callous' attitude and mischievous propaganda by the AP government, we will not stall the works,” he asserted. Accusing the AP government of hatching a conspiracy against the Telangana irrigation projects, Srihari said, "the works related to redesigning the projects have been taken up to get 'our' share of waters.

There was no truth in the argument of the AP government against our projects and it is carrying out a misinformation campaign”, he said. Kadiyam also slammed Krishna River Water Management Board (KRMB) for transcending its limits to bring other projects under its purview. He also took serious exception to the board for taking a unilateral decision to release a notification after a draft plan on the allocation of waters among the two Telugu States.
