Hyderabad: JAC chairman M Kodandaram observed that Prof Jayashankar had aspired for people-centric development and not a Telangana that benefits contractors, realtors and corporate forces. Kodandaram along with other leaders paid tributes to Jayashankar on the latter’s death anniversary, at the JAC office on Tuesday.

He said Prof Jayashankar aspired for the development of people and not contractors, realtors. “The JAC will strive in the direction which was pointed out by Prof Jayashankar and fulfill his aspirations. Formation of Telangana is one thing and development of the region, another. Prof Jayashankar wanted the fruits of development to reach the people and people-centric development is what the JAC wants,” said Kodandaram.

He added that Prof Jayashankar always maintained that there was a huge responsibility on the educated sections of society. “He was very clear… when society is in problems, the educated sections should not remain silent. They should be part of the evolution of the society,” said Kodandaram. They should examine the problems in detail and give strength to the people to fight them out, he added.

Stating that one should talk only after thorough study, Kodandaram said the JAC would not come to a hasty conclusion on any issue and would only take up an issue with responsibility after examining, analyzing and preparing solutions in a scientific way.

He said JAC wanted development to reach all sections of the people and asked individuals, who contributed during the Telangana agitation to do their bit. “Prof. Jayashankar’s thoughts are showing the way ahead for the JAC,” observed Kodandaram. He concluded by saying that Jayashankar’s death had created a void that cannot be filled.
