High Court row: Centre steps in to clean its hands
Desperate to come out clean on the issue of bifurcation of the High Court with both the State Governments throwing the ball into its court, the Centre might step in to intervene to convince the two Chief Ministers of the Telugu States to sit together and thrash out the issue at the earliest.
​New Delhi: Desperate to come out clean on the issue of bifurcation of the High Court with both the State Governments throwing the ball into its court, the Centre might step in to intervene to convince the two Chief Ministers of the Telugu States to sit together and thrash out the issue at the earliest.
With Telangana CM KCR and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu washing their hands of the issue blaming the Centre, the BJP is sour that it is caught in the "vortex of local politics" unnecessarily. It is learnt that even the irritated BJP State unit of Telangana has suggested the Centre to fix the responsibility "properly so that no one could take undue advantage at our (BJP’s) cost".
Amid mounting tension over the issue of bifurcation of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad and continued protests in both States by the Bar Associations and Judicial services members, the Centre is said to be gearing up to step in to resolve the issue, it is learnt. There could be pressure from the Centre on the two State Governments to resolve the issue at the earliest, it is now learnt.
The Centre is quite unhappy over the way the issue is putting it in the dock. Union Minister of Law Sadananda Gowda was never ready to take the blame for the delay in the process of bifurcation of the High Court calling it the States' prerogative.
But the latest developments wherein both the CMs’ shifted the blame to the Centre for the delay has come as the most unpalatable news for Gowda. Hence, it is said that it could now move forward to "advise" both the states on this count and also make the Apex court step in.
