Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress would come out with the ‘facts and figures’ about favours received by the ‘defectors’ who had joined the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) during the last two years.

Responding to a question during a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Vikramarka said the Congress would expose their (defectors) real intentions and tempting tactics of the ruling party and the people would judge these opportunistic leaders and teach them a lesson. He alleged that most of them had joined the TRS for winning favours and earning contracts in the ongoing projects.

Responding to the statements of Ministers T Harish Rao and K T Rama Rao against AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, Vikramarka said the two Ministers did not have the stature to criticise a man who had served as Chief Minister of one of the biggest States in the country for 10 years.

He said that Digvijay Singh, with his vast experience, had made constructive criticism, but representatives of the ruling party were not ready to take it in a positive way. Instead of answering to Singh’s pointed questions, they were resorting to “verbal attack” on him, which was not good for a healthy democracy.

“He had just called spade a spade, but they are resorting to direct attack,” he said.Vikramarka challenged the Ministers over their claim of welfare schemes being undertaken by the State government. While referring to shunning of various schemes started by the Congress government, he said that KCR was only interested in decimating the Opposition, rather than focusing on welfare activities of the people who have voted him to power.

He questioned the implementation of the SC/ST sub-plan, loan waiver to farmers, promise of 2BHK houses to the poor and distribution of three-acre land to poor dalit families, amongst a host of other assurances.

On the issue of irrigation projects, he said that the State government in the name of “re-design” was resorting to escalating the cost of projects.

The Gandhi family which made sacrifices and brought several welfare schemes cannot be questioned. No one in the country can accuse them of dynastic rule. On the other hand, KCR has not only inducted his son but also his nephew into the cabinet, which speaks volumes of his actions,” he added.
