Kavitha backs AP on special status
Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Thursday pledged support to the demand of special status to the state of Andhra Pradesh, but added that the benefits which would be given the neighbouring state should be extended also to Telangana.

Replying to a question on the support of the TRS to the demand for special status to Andhra Pradesh during a press conference here on Thursday, Kavitha said, “We have nothing to lose if something is given to Andhra Pradesh, but at the same time the same benefits should be given to Telangana so that industries do not go to other states.” She said that her party would give moral support to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
“The TDP and YCP MPs are raising the demand for special status standing in their places in Parliament. We will not do the same as it is not our prime agenda to take up agitation. The Centre is fulfilling promises one after other and we are confident that it will fulfill all its promises. We want good relations with our neighbours. That is why we went to Nandigama,” said Kavitha.
Replying to another question, Kavitha said the TRS was having friendly relations with the Centre. “We don’t know on what basis Centre gave Rs 2,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh. The Centre should fulfill all the promises,” said Kavitha.
The Nizamabad MP said the state government had received funds from the Centre as its right. The BJP leaders during elections projected as if the Centre did a favour on Telangana, she said and added that the Centre actually gave additional Rs 1,500 crore apart from what the State was entitled to get.
On the pending promises, Kavitha said the promises were being fulfilled by the Centre, which is a good practice and if the state doesn’t get them, there is always scope for an agitation.
Reacting to the power-point presentation of the Congress, Kavitha said there was nothing to talk on this. “Had Congress provided water to 98 lakh acres, there would be no suicides by farmers. We thought Uttam Kumar Reddy, who is from a good profession, would make sensible remarks, but he too made a jugglery out of the figures,” said Kavitha.
The TRS leader said that Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangam (TBGKS) would soon hoist pink flag on the Singareni Collieries Company Limited. She claimed that TRS had worked for welfare of the workers.
She further said that CM K Chandrashekar Rao first announced Telangana increment of 3 per cent on basic salary, gave 20 per cent of the profits in the first year and 21 per cent in the second year, waived off tax dues of Rs 200 crore which were pending for 20 years.
Telangana would not have been a reality, but for the support of mining workers, said Kavitha, who is the honorary president of the union. The MP formed new a body of TBGKS and said that a manifesto would be released soon.
