Hyderabad: TDP Telangana unit working President A Revanth Reddy on Friday challenged the State government to come for an open debate on the alleged corruption in the execution of irrigation projects.

Addressing the press here, Revanth alleged several irregularities had taken place in awarding contract works to the private agencies and there has been escalation in the estimations of the projects on the pretext of redesigning and re-engineering without any scientific study.

Stating that he has the details of the contractors who were awarded works even before the project reports were finalised, the TDP leader said there were many similarities in executing projects between Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s government and former chief minister in the undivided Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who in the name of “Jalayagnam” made it into a “Dhanayagnam”.

The objective of YSR was to loot public money in the name of irrigation projects, same is the case with KCR, he said. Revanth further alleged that the AP Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao, who was heart and soul of YSR, has now become close aide of KCR.

The Congress leader and KCR colluded with Andhra contractors from preparing project reports to finalising estimations and awarding works to the agencies. He also alleged that a close relative of Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has been given key post to fulfil their personal wishes in the execution of the project works.

The TDP leader said he would submit all the information gathered regarding corruption and government collusion with contractors to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
