Hyderabad: Terming as “fake” the police encounter in Malkangiri on the Andhra Odisha Border (AOB) on October 24 in which over 30 Maoists were gunned down, the Civil Liberties Committee (CLC) of Telangana demanded an inquiry by a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, CLC leaders Prof G Laxman (president), V Raghunath (vice-president), N Narayana Rao (general secretary) and PM Raju (city president) expressed concern that even after nearly a fortnight after the so-called encounter, the whereabouts of some top Maoist leaders, including Ramakrishna alias RK, were not known. Fearing threat to the lives of the Maoist leaders, the CLC leaders stressed the need for producing them before the judiciary immediately.

The CLC leaders painted a graphic picture of the conditions of the slain Maoists based on the photographs from the encounter site and also from the explanation of the DGP of AP State. They alleged that the Maoists were killed after subjecting them to “inhuman and barbaric” torture.
