LAND ACQUISITION FIGHT

Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday said the fight against land acquisition would be intensified. Launching the website www.telanganajac.org of the JAC, Prof Kodandaram demanded that the government refrain from suppressing protests being staged in a democratic manner. If the government thwarts such protests, it would have long-term repercussions. The government has many platforms to give their version, but the opposition has very limited scope.

It was ridiculous to say that anti-social elements would misuse the protest programmes. He asserted that TJAC would fight against the land acquisition and the aggrieved parties would go to the court. Prof Kodandaram said the JAC would organise a meeting on the guidelines issued by Singareni on January 5. He said because of the guidelines, over 5,700 youth would be deprived of jobs.

JAC coordinator P Ravinder said the government should come out with a policy on fisheries and also should form Fisheries Development Corporation, so that over seven lakh fishermen community in the State could be benefitted. The JAC had prepared a document on fisheries, which would soon be sent to the government and the Opposition parties.
