4 held for rape of mentally unsound minor girl

Hyderabad: Four persons were taken into custody in connection with the gang rape of a minor girl in Sultan Shahi area of Moghalpura police station limits. The accused have been identified as Ajay, Karan, Rahul and Yashwant.

It all began when the girl went missing on 10th February and her parents lodged a complaint with Moghalpura police. However, the girl was found later in the evening amid bushes in an isolated place. It appears police did not take the case seriously as the girl was found.

The girl could not explain her parents about the ordeal she faced since she was mentally unsound. However, she told her parents on February 13 that she was made to lie on the floor and four persons did something to her.

The girl’s parents suspected sexual assault and informed the police the same day. However, police did not take the case seriously until it was reported in the media. Police then took four accused into custody and questioned them.

Police sources said Ajay and Karan took the 14-year-old mentally unsound girl to Rahul’s house in Lalithabagh on a motor cycle on February 10.

The duo invited their friend Yashwant and all of them allegedly raped the girl. Later, they abandoned the girl in an isolated place in Sultan Shahi.

However, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone, V Satyanarayana told reporters that according to their investigations only two of the four accused – Ajay and Karan – sexually assaulted the girl.
