Hyderabad: In a body-blow to the office-bearers of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), who have failed to implement the Justice RM Lodha Committee recommendations, the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday appointed two administrators to run its affairs during the forthcoming IPL season and also ensure that it is Lodha-compliant.

This development comes as welcome news to the fans as they can catch up with all the action slated for Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS). Justice Anil Ramesh Dave, former Supreme Court judge, and Justice GV Seethapathy, a former High Court judge, were appointed as administrators for the HCA for a period of six months.

The existing management or the newly-elected executive body (subject to clearance from the High Court that is looking into the validity of the elections held in January) will assist the administrators, who will exercise overall control over the cricket body.

The bench of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther pronounced this interim order in a public interest petition that was seeking reforms in the HCA after hearing an interim plea filed by the BCCI.

The Board had expressed apprehensions over the ability of the HCA in its current form to conduct the IPL season in a peaceful and effective manner.

The BCCI in its plea not only sought the appointment of two administrators, but also suggested the names of Justices Dave and Seethapathy for the job.

The bench accepted this suggestion and accordingly appointed them as administrators with a direction to the management of the HCA and the BCCI to assist them in all respects.

The administrators shall enter into a tripartite agreement with the BCCI and the franchise, the bench said. The administrators will also appoint a financial advisor in consultation with the BCCI administrators to ensure maintenance of proper accounts of HCA.

IPL 2017 Season will start on April 5 and will end on May 21. As many as eight matches, including the inaugural and the final match, are to be held in Hyderabad.
