Minister seeks more funds for gram panchayat buildings
Panchayat Raj Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said that additional funds for the construction of Gram Panchayat buildings would be provided.
Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao said that additional funds for the construction of Gram Panchayat buildings would be provided.
Replying to a question from TRS MLAs R Balakrishna, B Shankar Naik and Ch Madan Reddy during the question hour on Saturday, the Minister said that so far Rs 301 crore had been released in last two years for the construction of new buildings for 2,315 Gram Panchayats in the State with each building having about 1,500 sft.
However, the members pointed out that the uniform allocation of Rs 13 lakh to all Gram Panchayats is not sufficient and demanded an increase to Rs 20 lakh in case of minor and Rs 25 lakh in case of major Gram Panchayats.
The Minister said that the steps would be taken to provide additional funds wherever necessary taking into consideration the requirements of each of the Gram Panchayat.
