Hyderabad: The Union government is said to have raised a few objections with regard to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Telangana Amendment) Act, 2016, which was passed by the State Assembly in December and sent to the Centre for its nod.

A top official of the state government said that the Union Ministry of Law had raised some objections and has asked the state to make fresh amendments.

The official, however, did not divulge the details of the amendments required to get the Centre’s nod. He only said that the Union Home Ministry had approved the Act. But the Law ministry declined to give final approval.

Following this the State government is now likely to convene Assembly session soon and complete the amendment process as suggested by the Law Ministry, official sources said.

The State government had adopted the Central Land Acquisition Act with some amendments in December for the acquiring land and rehabilitation and resettlement of the oustees at project sites in the state.

The state government adopted the Act with some amendments after the High Court had struck down GO123 brought into force for land acquisition by the High Court.
