Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Friday, instructed the officials  to highlight the works and role played by Telangana in the development and growth of Telugu language and literature at the proposed World Telugu Conference  (WTC) to be held during June first week in Hyderabad.    

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Friday, instructed the officials to highlight the works and role played by Telangana in the development and growth of Telugu language and literature at the proposed World Telugu Conference (WTC) to be held during June first week in Hyderabad.

He instructed that scholars, litterateurs, prominent personalities who have contributed to the spread of Telugu language and literature from Andhra Pradesh, other states and also from abroad have to be invited and felicitated.

The Conference, he said should reflect and highlight the talents exhibited by Telangana literary personalities in Journalism, Film Industry, Short story and Novels, Poetry, Yakshagana, Harikatha, Burrakatha and prosody etc., the CM said.

The CM wanted the inaugural function of the Conference to be held on June 2 as it happens to be the State’s Formation day and would provide an opportunity to showcase the importance of Telugu literature to the world. Reviewing the arrangements for the conference, KCR said Kavi Sammelanas, Literary conferences; Avadhanams should be part of the World Telugu Conference.

Essay writing and elocution competitions would also be conducted for the students during the Conference. Famous literary works from Telangana writers would be published, KCR said.

The CM wanted Institutions and people working for Telugu promotion from places like Surat, Bhiwandi, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Sholapur, Odisha should be invited for the Conference. People and institutions in US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Gulf countries and working for the promotion of Telugu language and literature would also be invited.
