Hyderabad: The main Opposition party, the Congress, on Monday kept a low profile at ‘Capture Dharna Chowk’ campaign. Though the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) extended its support to the campaign, it remained undecided till Monday morning whether to respond to the call given by Telangana JAC.

TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Deputy Congress Legislature Party leader T Jeevan Reddy, former Ministers D K Aruna, V Sunitha Laxma Reddy, former MP and spokesperson, Mallu Ravi, MLAs, C Vamshi Chand Reddy, T Rammohan Reddy and former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav and TPCC Kisan Cell chairman M Kodanda Reddy, held a meeting in Gandhi Bhavan to discuss problems being faced by farmers.

They also focussed their attention on chalking out a strategy to counter government’s propaganda. Later after some deliberations the TPCC chief decided to take part in the ‘Capture Dharna Chowk’ protest. But, the leaders had hardly remained for 15 minutes at the spot.

However, former MP V Hanumantha Rao and few of his associates like TPCC general secretary Bollu Kishan turned up early in the morning at Dharna Chowk and staged protest for some time. With no proper coordination, even the party’s other departments like women’s wing blamed the communication gap for the party’s poor attendance.
