Hyderabad: Reacting to KCR’s comments, BJP national president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that he stands by the statement he had made on Tuesday and reiterated that the Centre had given more than Rs 1 lakh crore to Telangana.

Addressing a meeting of the booth-level party workers of Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency here on Wednesday, Amit Shah said, “Today confusion has been created on my comments made during the press conference at Nalgonda.

The Chief Minister has asked me to clarify before leaving Telangana. I stand by my statement. No other government has done so much as the Modi government had done for Telangana,” said Amit Shah and listed out the figures of the funds released to Telangana for various schemes.

Amit Shah said that the people of Telangana have right to question Modi government and added that in turn the government has the right to say what it has done for them.

“We need to say to the people what Congress gave and what we are giving. We don’t discriminate the states. Our aim is 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas',” said Shah.

Stating that the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Vistarak Yojna programme of the party was raising BP levels among opponents, the BJP leader said that this programme was not to terrorise anyone but to strengthen the party at booth level.

We don’t want to oppose anybody but we have the right to grow,” said Shah. He said that about 4 lakh active workers would tour 8.5 lakh polling booths in the country to make people aware of the programmes of the Modi government.

He said that this programme would be the biggest and would be successful programme ever after Independence. The BJP president said that the journey of the party had started with 10 persons in Jan Sangh but now it has emerged as the biggest party in the world.

“Once we needed a binocular to spot MLAs of BJP but today there were 1,387 MLAs, 330 MPs, ruling in 13 states and their alliance partners were in power in four states. He expressed confidence that the BJP would come into power in Telangana.

He said that the Modi government had taken up many programmes in the last three years, which no other party had taken up. Stating that the Modi government during three years brought 106 schemes, he said that the Congress party had done nothing during its tenure.

He said, even after 70 years after Independence, there are no individual toilets in 16 crore houses and added that the BJP government in three years of time constructed 4.5 crore toilets.
