Safety measures for GHMC sanitation workers
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed the officials to take up safety measures for sanitation workers and also asked them to provide equipment like radium jackets, soaps, coconut oil and other essential materials.
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed the officials to take up safety measures for sanitation workers and also asked them to provide equipment like radium jackets, soaps, coconut oil and other essential materials.
The GHMC Commissioner held a meeting on Friday for the distribution of safety equipment and other items. He said that GHMC is having 24,242 sanitation and entomology workers. ESI, EPF facilities are provided to them.
Janardhan Reddy further said that the provision for accidental life insurance coverage is not mandated by the law; however, the GHMC is providing the accidental life insurance coverage as well as exgratia payments to the workers.
He said that in the case of death of the workers, the insurance claimed will be Rs 6 lakh; for permanent disability Rs 3 lakhs; and in case of natural death Rs 60,000.
