Metro showers sting citizens

Hyderabad: The people in the city now have another problem to deal with apart from potholed roads, the water from metro rail viaducts has become nuisance for commuters.

When it rains we would take shelter under the viaducts, now even that is not possible,” said Ramesh Tendulwadikar, a commuter on the Punjagutta road.

The rain water is overflowing during heavy rains at a few places due to non-completion of track related works on the Metro viaduct and temporary closure of water drainage holes to prevent their clogging with construction materials and not because of any deficiencies.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director N V S Reddy said, “Most of the leakage points have already been attended to and the remaining points shall be attended in a time bound manner without waiting for completion of the track works.”

Meanwhile in the social media, a video of water gushing out from the viaducts like a waterfall has gone viral.
