Hyderabad: The Railway Board chairman Ashwani Lohani called for safety precautions to avoid train accidents. In a video conference with General Managers of zonal railways, he stressed on safety, punctuality, loading and works pertaining to production units.

He said that safety was the prime concern for Indian Railways and exhorted General Managers and other senior officials to interact with the field staff and monitor the implementation of rules formulated for the improvement of systems for ensuring safety.

He also drew the attention of GMs to cleanliness at the stations, inside trains and work places. He instructed them to eliminate unmanned level crossings and to provide gate mitras, construction of limited height subways to eliminate level crossings as per the target fixed.

The nationwide cleanliness drive ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ that commenced on September 15 would continue till October 2, which would be observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas.
