KCR asks opposition to learn from Singareni union poll results
Expressing pleasure over the victory of TRS-backed TBGKS in the Singareni Collieries union elections, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has advised the opposition parties to learn a lesson from the results.
Hyderabad: Expressing pleasure over the victory of TRS-backed TBGKS in the Singareni Collieries union elections, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has advised the opposition parties to learn a lesson from the results.
Addressing a press conference at Pragathi Bhavan on Friday, the Chief Minister said that all opposition parties unitedly contested the Singareni union elections against the ruling TRS. However, the results clearly show the mass support being enjoyed by the ruling party in Telangana. Describing the union polls as referendum, he said that the entire opposition has been completely finished after Singareni elections.
KCR said no union had secured 45% votes in the history of Singareni Collieries. But the TBGKS has created history by getting over 45% votes in its favour. He said people have supported TRS in all the elections since 2014. Despite facing consecutive defeats in all the elections, opposition parties, especially Congress, have not mend their ways. He said the opposition parties would be completely wiped off if they continue with the same approach in future. Stating that the BJP-backed union has got just 248 votes, he ridiculed BJP's claims of emerging as an alternative to TRS in the State.
The Chief Minister said except for Congress leaders, all other sections of the society were happy with the performance of TRS Government. He claimed that it was due to his continuous struggle for 15 years that Telangana became a reality. He alleged that Congress was responsible for backwardness of Telangana and it had a dubious stand on granting statehood.
KCR said that the Congress party tried to mislead Singareni workers with misleading propaganda. However, the SCCL workers rejected the Congress propaganda and voted in favour of TRS-backed union. He warned that cases would be booked against those levelling baseless allegations against his government and criticising his decisions.
The Chief Minister also blamed Congress party for the interim stay on construction of Kaleshwaram project. He said Congress senior leader and former Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha was among those who approached the National Green Tribunal against the project. He said Congress leaders were also obstructing the works of Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya by approaching courts.
KCR also denied the allegations that he has turned arrogant and acting like a dictator. He said although he hails from Velama community, which constitutes just 1.1% of the total population in Telangana, he became the Chief Minister due to the people's support. Criticising Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram he said it was him who created TJAC and Kodandaram was one among lakhs of statehood activists mentored by him. However, he alleged that Kodandaram was now playing into the hands of Congress party.
The Chief Minister said that the TJAC was formed to achieve statehood for Telangana. Since Telangana is now a separate State, there was no need to continue the TJAC and its existence is completely irrelevant. He also listed out various achievements of TRS Government during the last three years.
