Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal told reporters here on Tuesday that the Kusumanchi police, assisted by Khammam Rural Assistant Commissioner of Naresh Reddy, had raided

Bandamedha Thanda on the outskirts of Choutpalli village under Kusumanch mandal to arrest the extremist. But Bheemudu escaped and holed up in nearby Bachhadu village, said the Police Commissioner. His party activists Thimmadi Hanumantha Rao, Kalakonda Suresh and Bhukya Machhu Naik helped him escape the police dragnet.

On a tip-off, the police launched an operation to nab the escaped rebel and launched a vehicle checking drive at Jujulraopet village crossroad. During the operation, the police arrested Bheemudu while he was trying to escape. He said a revolver, two rounds of bullets, revolutionary literature, a dairy and a mobile phone were seized from him.

Bheemudu alias Sudhakar joined the CPI (ML) New Democracy 20 years ago. He was elevated to the position of dalam commander for Gundala area. Five cases were registered against Bheemudu till date in various police stations, added the Police Commissioner.

The Police Commissioner appreciated the police team comprising Circle Inspector Vasanth Kumar and Sub-Inspector Raghu, besides the Kusumanchi Police officials.

The Police also arrested New Democracy leaders Thimmadi Hanumantha Rao and Kalakonda Suresh of Thirumalayapalem mandal and Bhukya Machhu Naik of Kusumanchi mandal for aiding Bheemudu.
