Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) is likely to announce the new executive of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on June 20. Sources in the party said the new executive would be finalised by June 19 as AICC president Rahul Gandhi would leave for foreign tour on that day. Rahul may give his assent to the new team on June 19, and the list would be announced the next day.

PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, who has been camping in Delhi for the last three days, returned to Hyderabad on Sunday to participate in the birthday celebrations of his wife Padmavathi Reddy who is also an MLA but rushed to Delhi again later in the night as he would have to discuss the new executive of the PCC with senior leaders of the party in the next two days.

The AICC has entrusted the responsibility of finalizing the new executive to AICC senior leaders Randeep Surjewala, Ahmed Patel and Ashok Gehlot. Party sources said Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana Congress in-charge RC Khuntia and party leader Koppula Raju have prepared separate lists of the PCC executive and Ahmed Patel, Surjewala and Gehlot would finalise the new team.

The sources said the high command may hold back appointment of chairmen to the campaign and manifesto committees. The appointments may be made after three to four months. Party leaders said the high command has been brainstorming on the new executive for the past four days. It wants to ensure that all the senior leaders of the party are accommodated in the team and other committees.

They said S Jaipal Reddy may be appointed member of the working committee. V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Laxmiah and Jana Reddy are in the race for the AICC general secretary post. If the high command feels that it would not be better to give all the top posts to Reddy community, it may appoint Jana Reddy as general secretary and he may be made chairman of the coordination committee of the PCC.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka may be made leader of the Congress Legislature Party. The new team would have three working presidents, general secretaries, secretaries and others. The working president posts may be given to BC, minority and SC leaders.

Sources said that firebrand politician A Revanth Reddy may not be given any post in the new executive and his name would be considered for the campaign committee in the coming months.

They said the high command did not want to change Uttam Kumar Reddy as he has been leading the state unit for the past three years and replacing him with another leader would send wrong signals to the cadre.
