Hyderabad: In a major decision, the Congress high command appointed three AICC secretaries as in-chargesfor South, North and Central Telangana. The secretaries will directly monitor the party affairs in their respective regions and resolve the crisis, if any, in the partyinstantly in consultation with the high command.
The Secretaries – NS Bose , Sreenivasan Krishnan and Saleem Ahmed will oversee the party affairs in the three regions of the T state, while, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy will continue to look after the party affairs at the state level. These decisions were taken at an emergency meeting the high command held with Uttam Kumar Reddy in New Delhi on Saturday.
The party high command also grilled the TPCC chief on his failure to keepthe flock together. The AICC leaders questioned Uttam the reasons for quitting of senior leader DanamNagender from the party abruptly.
Earlier, Uttam Kumar Reddy met party senior leaders, including party general secretary AsokGehlot, senior leader Jairam Ramesh and Telangana Congress in-charge RC Khuntia at the party headquarters here.
According to sources, the high command which took DanamNagendar’s exit from the party seriously and asked Uttam to come to Delhi on Saturday morning. Party senior leaders met in the war room of the AICC office and discussed the issues with Uttam Kumar Reddy threadbare.
The sources said that apart from the exit of Nagendar, the seniors discussed the organizational matters of the state. They held talks on the shape of the new executive of the PCC. Reportedly, they told Uttam Kumar Reddy to improve the situation of the party.
The seniors discussed the allegations made by Nagendar, too. As the talk of early elections has begun in the political circles, Telangana may also face them by the end of this year and state Congress should be ready to face them.
Speaking to the media later, Khuntia said the talk about the change of Uttam Kumar Reddy as PCC chief holds no water. He made it clear that the Telangana Congress would go to the polls under the leadership of Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Khuntia said it was not correct on the part of the leaders to go to the media with allegations against the organization. It would be better to make complaints to party chief Rahul Gandhi. He said serious action would be taken against the leaders who make public allegations. He said it was not possible to stop a leader from leaving the party. He said the partyvote bank has improved when compared to the situation in 2014 and about 10 per cent voters have been added recently.
Khuntia said the latest survey shows victory for the Congress in Telangana in the next elections. He said the newly-appointed secretaries have been entrusted with the responsibility of 40 constituencies.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said Rahul Gandhi had directed them to be ready to face the elections any time. He said the Telangana Congress would be holding discussions with regional leaders to strengthen the party. He said Rahul Gandhi has held meeting with the newly-appointed secretaries.
