Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party, if voted to power in next elections, would take all measures to support all private educational institutions in the State.

Addressing the Atma Gaurava Sabha organised by KG to PG Educational Institutions JAC at Hayathnagar on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the next Congress government would pay fee reimbursement amount every year in two instalments. The power bills of private educational institutions will be converted from commercial to domestic category. Similarly, for Property Tax too, they would be converted from commercial to domestic category.

The TPCC chief also promised that all the staff of private educational institutions, both Teaching and Non-Teaching, would be given Health Insurance up to Rs 5 lakh and they would be issued Health Cards. He said the tuition fee for intermediate, Degree and PG students would be increased. He said relaxations would be given for fire safety NOC for buildings of private institutions.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that over 12,000 schools, about 2,000 junior colleges, nearly 1,000 Degree Colleges, 200 PG colleges, 600 Professional Colleges and 500 B Ed and D Ed Colleges with a combined strength of 46 lakh students were being run by private managements. They are also providing employment to nearly 5 lakh people including Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff. However, he said the TRS government had completely neglected such a large section of the society.

Stating that the private educational institutions too have played a crucial role in Telangana formation, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS government not only neglected them but insulted the managements on different occasions. “TRS regime did not allow the private institutions to even hold a protest meeting in Hyderabad. You are forced to conduct a meeting at Hayathnagar to express your anguish and put forth your demands. Is Telangana part of India or is it located in Pakistan or Burma?” he asked.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said K Chandrashekar Rao had come to power on the promise of providing KG to PG free education. However, he ruined the entire education sector. Delays in clearing Fee Reimbursement dues led to the closure of hundreds of colleges. K Chandrashekar Rao even objected to existence of so many institutions on the pretext that there were not sufficient jobs for the pass outs, he said.

“Don't forget the insult meted out by Chandrashekar Rao and work hard for the next two months to defeat the TRS in elections. Our lives will be in danger and there will be a threat to our children's future if we do not defeat TRS in next elections. Just four members of KCR family are trying to play with the lives and future of four crore people of Telangana. You must act now. Else, just one family will completely ruin Telangana,” he added.
