Amma Hastam, CM's Ugadi gift

• 9 essential items for Rs 185
• Scheme to benefit 7.5 crore people

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will launch the unique 'Amma Hastham' scheme on the Ugadi Day (today) at Ravindra Bharathi. Under the scheme, 2.25 crore white card holders in the state will be provided with nine essential commodities in one package for just Rs 185 every month. This will benefit about 7.5 crore people, thus covering almost 90 per cent of the state's population. According to the government, the total cost of these items is Rs 292, which will be supplied at Rs 185 and each family will be benefited to the extent of Rs 107 per month. The package will include one kg each of toor dal, whole meal atta, wheat and salt and one litre palm oil, half kg sugar, quarter kg chilli powder, half kg tamarind and 100 grams turmeric powder. Quality of the products will also be maintained.
