Warangal: The district BJP leaders have urged the police to take serious action against the City Congress working president Rajanala Srihari for allegedly causing insult to the dignity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP district general secretary S Jagadeeshwar and others took exception to the ‘mock funeral rites’ performed by the Congress leaders on November 8, on which Congress ranks observed ‘Black Day’ marking the first anniversary of announcement of demonetisation by the PM.

The BJP leaders, who lodged a complaint with Intezargunj police, have stated that performing the funeral rites of a living person amounts to murder of the person in question. Hence the police should book Srihari, the resident of JPN Road in Warangal, for resorting to such anti-social act, they appealed.

Responding to the BJP leaders’ complaint to the police on Friday, Srihari defended his action and said the demonetisation move had caused misery and several persons lost their lives. Huge number of marriages arranged after the demonetisation was announced got cancelled.

But none of the BJP leaders have come forward to console such families. ‘I am ready to go to jail as many times as the BJP leaders wish since what I did was just a reflection of people’s plight and mood. They cannot threaten me with police cases,’ he added.
