Bhupalpally: The district police defused a pressure bomb planted by Maoists at Vijayapuri Colony in Venkatapuram mandal in Bhupalpally district on Tuesday.

The police found the bombs planted at the area where a Maoist poster appeared on a road side signpost on Monday in the wake of the ongoing annual People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Week.

It was said that the earth near the signpost was found to be freshly dug and covered with soil. The police suspecting that explosives could have been planted there summoned the bomb squad. The bomb squad which found a pressure bomb diffused it on Tuesday.

The police sealed off a stretch of one kilometre on either side of the location while diffusing the bomb. Eturnagaram ASP Rahul Hedge B K and other senior officials visited the spot.
