Medaram (Jayashankar-Bhupalpally): Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy said that they have taken fool-proof measures to ensure the four-day Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma jatara a huge success.

The DGP, who was here on Thursday to take stock of the arrangements, launched the Police Command and Control Room, and ‘Guide to Medaram 2018’ android app for smart phones.

“Whopping 15,000 police personnel have been deployed to man the jatara. This apart, over 400 CCTV cameras have been installed at all vantage points leading to the Medaram. Adding more to it was drone surveillance, crowd and queue monitoring cameras. We are using Variable Message Sign (VMS) display boards to provide traffic information to authorities and as well as pilgrims,” he said.

Referring to the app, he said that it is not only useful for the devotees coming from various destinations but also help a lot to the sectorial officers. The DGP performed ‘Tulabharam’ wherein the jaggery equal to his weight was offered to the deities.

North Zone IG Y Nagi Reddy, Intelligence IG Naveen Chand, Warangal Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu, Bhupalpally Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran, Bhadradri-Kothagudem SP Ambar Kishor Jha, Additional SP Raja Mahendra Naik and ASP Rahul Hegde were among others present.
