South Africa's speed legend Dale Steyn picked India's Mohammed Shami as the world's best bowler on current form. The Proteas fast bowler complimented the Indian cricketer while participating in a recent Q&A session held with his fans on Twitter.

Replying to a fan who asked him who he thought was the best bowler in world right now, Steyn said, "Shami on current form."

The South African's remarks came a few days after India's former cricketer Gautam Gambhir too hailed Shami as the best fast bowler in the world currently.

Mohammed Shami has been on a roll of late. Adding spite to India's pace attack with superlative form, the 29-year-old has stood as a potent weapon at Virat Kohli's disposal. From picking a hat-trick at this year's World Cup to impressing in the Test series against and West Indies and South Africa, the speedster has hit a purple patch across formats. The right-arm pacer also scalped seven wickets in the recently concluded first Test against Bangladesh and was instrumental in India's thumping win.

Shami's recent heroics with the red ball also saw him break into ICC's top 10 rankings for Test bowlers.
