Siri Brings with iOS 15

Highlights

iOS 15 brings new features with Messages, FaceTime, Safari, and more. For example, Siri also received big improvements. Know what all things are new.

With iOS 15, Siri is bringing many new features, but most of these features are for iPhones with the A12 Bionic processor or newer.

On-Device Speech Processing - Your request audio is now fully processed on your iPhone XR, XS, or newer unless you choose to share it. The power of the Apple Neural Engine enables speech recognition models with a similar high quality as server-based speech recognition.

On-Device Processing and Personalization: Siri learns the contacts you interact with the most, the new words you write, and the topics you read about. It is also faster than ever. An iPhone XR, XS or the latest is needed.

Neural Text-to-Speech in More Languages: The new Neural Text-to-Speech voices are now available in more languages: Swedish (Sweden), Danish (Denmark), Norwegian (Norway), and Finnish (Finland).

Maintaining Context: Siri is improved at keeping context between requests, so you can refer to what you have just asked for. For example, after asking "Is Zoological Park still open?" you can ask "How much time does it take to reach there?" and Siri will make the connection.

Refer to contact list on screen: Now Siri can use on-screen context to send a message or make a call. If you're viewing a contact in the Contacts app, a conversation with someone in Messages, or a message notification or a missed call from someone, you can say, "Send them a message, I'm on my way", Siri will send it to the contact.

Offline Support: Siri can now process many types of offline requests without an internet connection, including timers and alarms, phone, messaging, sharing, app launch, audio playback control, and settings. An iPhone XR, XS or newer is required and you can learn more about it here.

Sharing: One of the best features of iOS 15, you can share on-screen items like photos, web pages, Apple Music or Apple Podcasts content, Apple News stories, Maps locations and more. For example, say "Send this to Veena" and Siri will send it. Siri will offer to send a screenshot if the item can't be shared.

Announce Notifications: Now Siri announces incoming time-sensitive notifications on AirPods. You can have notifications that are not time-sensitive enabled for any app through Settings.

Control smart home devices at a specific time: You can command Siri to control a HomeKit device at a specific time. For example, say "Hey Siri, turn off the lights in my bedroom at 9 PM." Or "Hey Siri, turn off all the lights when I'm gone."
