Facebook adds new features to its Instant Games tab
The new features of the Games tab will be added to both the Facebook Games tab and the Facebook app's Bookmarks menu on mobile devices.
Last year, the social media giant, Facebook, deployed a new central place for people to discover, play, watch and share personalized gaming experiences for users, called instant games, to the platform. Now, the company is adding several new features to the tab, focused on the creation of discovery and re-engagement features.
The new features of the Games tab will be added to both the Facebook Games tab and the Facebook app's Bookmarks menu on mobile devices. Facebook has created the Games tab as part of the redesigned new version of the Facebook application that will now show users personalized shortcuts so that they can easily access the communities and the content they interact with. Users can now see the tab in the navigation bar at the top. However, it depends on how often a user plays games on Facebook.
In the blog, Facebook also mentioned that they are working on several other ways to expand the audience based on the activity of Instant Games. "Providing the most active Instant Games players with access to the Facebook Gaming tab is an important part of enabling discovery and re-engagement, so we'll continue to refine this work over the coming months," the blog mentions.
New features of the Facebook Games tab
The menus in the Games tab have been updated to increase engagement and find more games. The updated menu will allow users to search for some exciting games and more. In addition to this, new tools have been added to create and engage the Instant Games communities. This will allow players to create a group of instant games and play the game with their Facebook friends.
A new contextual notification will also be added that will notify Facebook users when a friend has a player turn. The blog also mentioned that Facebook is also working on a dedicated inbox for the notification of games within the Instant Games tab, so that all messages and notifications related to the Games will be stored in a separate place and players will be able to find the latest updates at one place.
