Jagtial: BRS State General Secretary Tatiparthi Jeevan Reddy on Tuesday led a massive rally in Jagtial, demanding that the Congress government fulfil the six guarantees and 420 promises made during the Assembly elections.
Hundreds of BRS leaders, activists and women took part in the rally from Telangana Bhavan to Tahsil Chowrasta. The protesters raised slogans against the State government and staged a sit-in on the road. Later, they garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar and submitted a memorandum seeking implementation of the election promises.
Addressing the gathering, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the government had failed to fulfil its promises to farmers, women, pensioners, students and unemployed youth. He demanded immediate removal of restrictions on urea supply and urged the government to ensure adequate availability of fertiliser to farmers.
He also criticised the government over the recent Assembly incident involving women MLAs and demanded an inquiry into the incident and action against those responsible.
Jeevan Reddy alleged that the government had failed to implement schemes such as Rythu Bharosa and farmer insurance effectively. He said the BRS would continue its protests against the alleged failures of the Congress government.
Former ZP chairperson Dava Vasantha Suresh also criticised the government and demanded implementation of the six guarantees and 420 promises. She alleged that women MLAs were humiliated during the Assembly episode and said the BRS would continue its agitation until the government addressed the issues raised by the party.
Jeevan Reddy asserted that Jagtial, known for its history of movements, would once again become the centre of a political movement and claimed that the slogan “Revanth Reddy must go, KCR must return” would become a reality.
