Hyderabad: City is getting ready to witness Sadar festival, also known as carnival of buffaloes, is quite an eye-popping event public. Scores of people belonging to the Yadav community will organise a buffalo carnival titled 'Sadar' every year on the next day to Diwali, this year on Tuesday.

On this day, several buffaloes decorated with garlands, painted horns, ornaments and paraded through the streets of Hyderabad. They are also accompanied by groups of people dancing to the beats and later, the bulls also perform stunts much to the amusement of the spectators.

Buffaloes from across the country make their presence felt in the congregation. However, it will be mostly from Haryana and Punjab, who will rule the roost with their gigantic frames and majestic appearances.

One such buffalo is the Murrah bull 'Sartaj' which is 7 feet tall, 16 feet width and weighs above 1,600 kilos. The owner of the buffalo also claims that the bull worth Rs 27 crore.

Haribabu Yadav, the organiser of the festival, said that Sadar is being celebrated across Hyderabad for more than 100 years. To attract people, we have started bringing super bulls to Hyderabad from various places, he stated.

"This time we brought 'Sartaj' from Veer Singh of Haryana State, Sartaj is 25 times national champion in different compactions held across India. We have also brought Shahenshah, Maharaja, Yuvraj and its son Dhara in the previous year," he explained.

Giving brief information about the maintenance of these super bulls, the organiser quoted an example of Sartaj and said, he weighs 1,600 kilos and we take intensive care of him, feed him with 20 litres of milk per day in equal amounts morning and evening, three kg of dry fruits and 50 to 100 apples daily, also accompanied with a walk for a 4-kilometre regularly.

As a part of the festival, organisers also accord the mementos to the performers in the Sadar. Musheerabad, Narayanguda and Malkajgiri are the top places to witness this festival.
