Hyderabad: The Commercial Taxes Department on Wednesday warned that assisting political parties/candidates in distribution of goods/articles to influence voters will attract penal action as per the provisions of the Peoples Representation Act, 1950.
In this regard, the Commercial Taxes Department has set up a Toll Free Number 18004253787 to receive complaints on all illegal movement of goods which are likely to be distributed by either parties or candidates to influence voters in the General Elections.
If any information is provided regarding any purchase or movement of goods without payment of taxes, the informants will be suitably rewarded. The identity of the informer shall also be kept confidential, according to a press release.
