Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender has asked his department not to get relaxed with no new positive cases seen in the State for last four days.

Pointing out that efforts of the health department drew praise from CM K Chandrashekar Rao and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, he wanted them to be on vigil as new positive cases are surfacing across the country.

Every person coming from foreign soil should be tracked and kept under watch, he reiterated. Rajender who went to Gandhi Hospital for inspection late evening on Friday, interacted with virus infected techie in the special isolation ward. He went inside in a protective gear and stated that techie was recovering well.

Based on his observations in Gandhi, Eatala directed senior officials to take a few measures in the hospital. He wanted the entire 7th floor housing the corona isolation ward to be sealed off with all routes closed so that outside patients or public do not enter.

Also, he suggested two different wards in the isolation ward itself to keep foreign returned persons, primary contacts and foreign nationals assessing their symptoms.

He wanted the same protocol and safety measures being followed for positive cases even for suspected cases. All those who returned from abroad have to be tracked whether they visit Gandhi Hospital or not and have to be kept under home quarantine for at least 14 days, the minister said.

Meanwhile, after instructions from the minister to equip Wi-Fi facilities in the isolation ward for the convenience of persons (belonging to different walks of life) being kept there, the Gandhi administration did the needful by Saturday evening.

NCDC members Dr Pravin and Dr Pranay also met the minister and briefed him about the various measures being taken up by the Union Health Ministry.
