Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India on Sunday has declared that Model of Conduct (MCC) has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect in various States that went to Lok Sabha polls and a few States where Assembly elections were also held.

Secretary Ajoy Kumar addressed a letter to Chief Electoral Officers of all States and Union Territories in this connection.

MCC was enforced from the date of announcement of election schedule and it remained in operation till completion of election process.

Meanwhile, as far as Telangana is concerned, the MCC still remains in place in erstwhile districts of Ranga Reddy, Warangal and Nalgonda where elections to three Legislative Council seats (Local Authorities Constituencies) is scheduled on May 31.
