Suryapet: Government vehicles to ferry the deceased to the cremation grounds were kept available in Suryapet from Tuesday. After performing special pujas, the Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy inaugurated the vehicles.

Earlier, the Municipal officials purchased three separate vehicles to cater to the people of Hindu, Muslim and Christian religions and the Minister, in this regard, had sanctioned Rs 33 lakh for the purchase of vehicles.

Meanwhile, the names of the vehicles were coined according to religions. While Hindu vehicle was named as Swargarohana Vahanam, Muslim vehicle was named as Janaza and Christian vehicle as Mahima.

The Minister advised the officials to make necessary arrangements in all vehicles according to the religious beliefs and sentiments. Collector and Suryapet municipality special officer Amoy Kumar, Zilla Parishad chairman Deepika, Kodad MLA Bollam Malliah Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Ramanji Reddy, ZPTC Biksham and others participated in the programme.
