Hyderabad: In order to enhance and facilitate a healthy environment to the morning walkers at the Indira Park, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is developing 'Panchatatva Walking Track' which would be opened by March-end.

The officials have planned to set up the new walking track based on the theme 'Panchatatva' along with acupressure tracks. The walking track is being built in around 1 acre at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh. The center of the walking track will have a statue of Buddha.

The circular track is a symbolic representation of 'Panchatatva', five elements of nature, vis-a-vis earth, water, air, fire and sky. Besides the five elements, the track would have twelve plants, each representing a zodiac sign, to create awareness about the plants.

Speaking to THI, Md Maqsood, Deputy Director, Urban biodiversity wing (UBD), Secunderabad zone, said, "The acupressure walking track is designed in such a way that it will benefit people for better circulation of blood and rejuvenate their body, especially the senior citizens, who find it difficult to walk long distances. Also, tiles are placed alternatively to stimulate the feet, two water cascades will run emitting soothing sounds and seating arrangements are installed around the area in the park for walkers to rest and enjoy the pristine healthy ambience."

The finely spread elements at the park stimulates the body as one walks barefoot over varied surfaces, rough and soft terrain. The people can walk on surfaces consisting of eight components including 20mm stones, 10mm stones, river stones, 6mm chips, rough sand, tree bark, black soil and water. The walkers have to follow a systematic process and have to walk on the elements as they are arranged. There is also a small 8- shaped walking tile in the track. And at the end, the people can wash their legs with water.

Apart from the walking track, the GHMC biodiversity wing is working on further developments in the park including building toilets, renovating seating areas and sewage treatment.
