Hyderabad: Job portals see spurt in women aspirants
'Work from home' is one of the top keywords searched by women at any job search portal As work-from-home is set to become the norm for a large section of the workforce in the wake of pandemic, several companies are opening up new roles, targeting women
Hyderabad: According to analyses by various job portals, applications from women job seekers saw 50 per cent jump in the month of March and are still increasing by the day. "We are witnessing a higher footfall of women candidates registering and applying for jobs on our platform. A 30% growth rate is observed in women jobseekers in the last month if we compare with the same period a year ago. The number of applications from women job seekers has increased 50 % in the March compared with the month earlier in 2020," said Neha Bagaria, Founder & CEO, JobsforHer.
Among the women jobseekers, 66% are graduates and the rest postgraduates. It is observed that active women job seekers are 5% more than men at a job portal called Naukri.com. Active women job seeker numbers went up by 28%. However, with lockdown in force, women are increasingly veering to work from home opportunities. More applications are filed for roles like customer service, back office/QA Testing/business development etc. As for the sectors, women jobseekers prefer banking, education, health and technology sectors. 'Work from home' is one of the top keywords searched by women at any job search portal across Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.
"With remote working becoming the norm, it is likely that we will see more demand for specific talent in this field whether it is IT professionals to develop software and apps for remote working or customer support executives to guide people on how to use them," says Zairus Master, CEO,Shine.com.
As work-from-home is set to become the norm for a large section of the workforce in the wake of pandemic, several companies are opening up new roles, targeting women. Some of the leading brands that are uplifting women to restart their career after a break are Sheroes, Her second innings, Cambly, Momspresso and others. Companies that are currently hiring women for Work from home are Amazon, Multibhashi, Crescendo Transcription and many others.
