Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender has stated that Cancer patients if tested positive will be treated in a separate ward in Gandhi Hospital.

He directed the Health department to prepare guidelines for protection of frontline health workers from the State. He wanted the senior officials to take extra measures and leave no stone unturned to ensure safety of doctors, nurses and other medical staff.

Till Tuesday, nearly 14 junior doctors and interns tested positive and all of them are form Osmania Medical College. Nearly 300 PG residents and interns were made to undergo sample test after several tested postive and their results are awaited.

Eatala held a review with senior officials at BRKR Bhavan in wake of spike in Covid infections among junior doctors in Osmania Medical College. The Health Minister said that at present cancer patients are being treated along with others, but henceforth they will be treated in a separate ward. Cancer patients have very low immunity levels and their health deteoriorates very quickly.
