Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP K Kavitha is looking to surpass all records by securing the highest ever majority in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in Telangana even as her main rival is skipping the seat and opting for another safe seat.
According to party sources, the young TRS leader, who is also the daughter of TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is aiming to get a record margin of over 5 lakh votes in the coming elections. Kavitha had defeated Madhu Yashki Goud of Congress with a margin of 1,67,184 votes. While Kavitha secured 4,39,307 votes, Madhu Yashki Goud got 2,72,123.
The record margin in Telangana is 4.6 lakh votes and in the name of TRS candidate Pasunuri Dayakar. The record at national level is in the name of Pritam Gopinath Munde of BJP, who won with a margin of 6,96,321 votes in a bypoll held in October 2014, which is said to be the highest ever in the electoral history of India.
Kavitha has been active in her Lok Sabha constituency taking up development works like influencing Patanjali to open food processing unit in the district, fighting for setting up of Turmeric Board, getting funds for railway line between Peddapally- Nizamabad- Karimnagar and others.
Kavitha played her part in the recently held Assembly election by ensuring a clean sweep in the seven segments under the Lok Sabha constituency, which she represented. TRS candidates were victorious in the constituencies of Balkonda, Jagtial, Bodhan, Armoor, Nizamabad Rural, Koratla and Nizamabad Urban.
According to TRS leaders, not only she played a big role in getting huge margins in these constituencies but also ensured defeat of a big Congress leader and former minister S Jeevan Reddy in Jagtial. Mass joining in the party inspired by the TRS leader had also helped to have clean sweep in the Lok Sabha segment.
The TRS leaders in the district say that this time the victory is not the issue of debate but the majority is the main topic. "Afraid to face another defeat against Kavitha, Madhu Yashki is looking for another safe seat this time, which shows the strength of the young leader," said a senior TRS leader.
Kavitha would be now facing Dharmapuri Arvind, who is also son of TRS MP D Srinivas. However, the TRS leaders are hopeful that the Modi factor would not have any impact on the high majority of the TRS leader. Kavitha said that the Congress and BJP were two sides of same coin. She alleged that these were so-called national parties, which never showed empathy towards local issues.
In fact, whenever there is an election, they try to misguide the people on Ram Mandir- Masjid, Bofors and Rafael. "Both Congress and BJP are speaking about development, but they have never done anything for it," said Kavitha.Kavitha further said, people of Telangana were looking forward to elect 16 Parliament members from TRS in support of Chief Minister KCR.
"Telangana people have understood that what it means to have 16 MPs and they will be supporting us in the upcoming elections. Having more and more members of Parliament is the only way that we believe that we can truly achieve the rights and solve issues of Telangana," said Kavitha.
