Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to postpone his proposed visit to Dubai and some parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) some time in April.

KCR has planned to meet Telangana NRIs there and invite them to invest in Telangana. Another important aspect of the visit is the Chief Minister will meet Telangana workers, who left for the Gulf countries for hard jobs and livelihoods and languishing there due to various reasons mainly visa fraud and fake job opportunities.

But since there has been an increase in the number of virus-infected persons in the Gulf countries and the announcement of national emergency by the Indian government, as well as the Prime Minister's appeal to all to defer foreign visits, the Chief Minister is said to be considering the postponement of the visit.

Top officials told The Hans India that the Chief Minister Office (CMO) had initiated an official process for KCR's Dubai visit. Some preliminary work had been done in consultation with the Dubai consulate to make necessary arrangement for the visit.

But in view of the prevailing health alert in the state, KCR is likely to postpone the visit, sources said. After assuming the office, CM KCR visited China, Malaysia and Singapore in 2014 and 2015.

He finalised a schedule to visit the US in 2016 but cancelled it in the eleventh hour. The Chief Minister also postponed his Dubai visit twice in the past between 2014 and 2018.
