Mahila Morcha demo seeks action against Congress MP

Wanaparthy: A demonstration was held at Ambedkar Crossroads here on Monday under the leadership of G Kavitha Yadav in which district president of BJP Mahila Morcha demanded action against Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Congress MP from Manipur, facing allegations of sexually harassing 11 students at Jawaharlal Nehru University. BJP State executive members Mentampalli Purushotham Reddy and Ramannagari Venkateshwar Reddy demanded the allegations of harassment be treated seriously and that the Congress leadership clarify its stance. They questioned why senior leader Rahul Gandhi had not yet responded to the issue.

Yadav stated that the protest was organised in solidarity with the demonstration held at the Congress headquarters led by Mahila Morcha national president Roop Kumari Chaudhary and Daggubati Purandeswari. She demanded action be taken regarding women’s dignity and safety without any discrimination.
