A Hyderabad based artist Syed Azmathullah was allegedly defrauded by a man who showcased the crystal paintings of Syed as his own.

The man identified as Abdul Salam Al-Qadi took his paintings on the pretext of exhibiting them and demonstrated them as his own. Of the 11 paintings he owned, the man did not pay the artist for six paintings, it is learned.

Abdul approached Syed in 2017 claiming to be a Qatari national and obtained 11 paintings of which he paid for five. Syed said that Abdul initially told that he will exhibit the paintings and later he showcased them as his own.

"It was when I visited UK parliament to demonstrate my work where I learned that Abdul has passed off a few paintings of his own," Syed said adding that the accused even replaced his signature.

Earlier this month, Syed approached Alam police and lodged a complaint against the accused.
