State Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Nallamada Uttam Kumar Reddy will visit Huzurnagar, in Suryapet district, at 1pm on Friday to review construction of a model colony near Ramaswamy Gattu.
The colony will comprise 2,160 homes for people on low incomes. The Minister is expected to assess construction progress, infrastructure provision and other development work with officials, and issue instructions to speed up completion.
The government is preparing to distribute the homes to beneficiaries later this month. The programme is expected to be led by senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. The project is intended to help fulfil the dream of home ownership for poorer families, and the visit is aimed at ensuring the colony and distribution arrangements are ready.
