Nalgonda: As many as 22 RTC employees submitted their willingness to join duties in 7 depots of erstwhile Nalgonda district by Wednesday midnight.

According to officials, 8 employees have given undertaking that they would join the duty at Suryapet depot, 4 in Nalgonda , 6 in Miryalguda, 4 in Kodad depot respectively.

Out of 740 buses of seven depots, 540 were plied on Wednesday. The long-distance interstate bus services will resume after getting suitable drivers , RTC Nalgonda regional manager Ch Venkanna informed.

Meanwhile , RTC workers staged protest before all RTC depots in erstwhile Nalgonda district. Local police arrested both protesting RTC workers and leaders of supporting political parties to them to control the situation, .

Police arrested hundreds of RTC workers at Nalgonda, Miryalguda , Narketpally , Yadagirigutta and Devarakonda depots from early hours of Wednesday.

Section 144 was imposed in all depots and measures were taken to prevent agitating RTC workers from entering the depots. Police also removed the camps of agitating RTC workers established on the bus stand premises.

Telangana Inti Party founder president Cheruku Sudhakar along with his party workers barged into the RTC bus stand but was arrested when they try to start sit in protest on the spot. RTC workers and Left parties' leaders staged dharna at Miryalguda police station when they were taken into police custody while trying to organise protest demonstration before the local bus depot. Police also arrested RTC workers in Yadagirigutta and Left parties' leaders in Devarakonda RTC depots.
